Laser Tattoo Removal
What Is Laser Tattoo Removal?
Laser tattoo removal is a type of treatment in which a High Intensity Laser Bean selectively treats the pigment colors of the tattoo. Lasers such as YAG lasers allow for the complete erasure of many tattoos, and significant (as much as 95%) fading in difficult cases. Our Medlite C6 laser employs this technology, and with a selection of special filters and material rods, allows us to focus on a number of critical wavelengths that target the different colored pigments in tattoo ink.
Why Is It Different From Other Laser Treatments?
Lasers have become the standard treatment because they offer a "bloodless," low risk, highly effective approach with minimal side effects. The type of laser used generally depends upon the pigment colors. In many cases, multiple treatments may be required.
What Can Patients Expect Following Treatment?
The sensation of the laser pulses has been described as similar to a rubber band snapping on the skin. Fortunately, the procedure takes only a short amount of time. For smaller tattoos, the laser is turned on for only seconds or tens of seconds. Please ask us about our topical anesthetic cream, cooling packs, and local anesthetic injections that can be applied to the treatment area to reduce any discomfort.
Is There Any Down Time?
Laser treatment allows safety tattoo removal with minimal side effects and no downtime. Patients can rid themselves of the once-permanent marking for a renewed appearance.
How Many Treatments Are Required?
Professional tattoos can require 1-10 treatments, with the average being 5-10 treatments. Homemade tattoos usually require 1-4 treatments. All treatments are spaced about two months apart or longer. The number of treatments depends on the amount, type of ink used, and the depth of the ink in the skin, location of tattoo, along with individual health considerations.
